02/16/2000 INITIAL CODE VIOLATION Correction Required ADDTL COMMS - 02-16-00 INSPECTED PROPERTY AND FOUND THAT SEWAGE PROBLEM HAD ESCALATED TO IMMEDIATE HAZARD TO THE PUBLIC. PROPERTY CONSISTS OF A SINGLE FAMILY RESIDENCE IN FRONT AND A DUPLEX TO THE REAR OF THE PROPERTY. ALL UNITS ARE NOT CONNECTED TO THE SEWER SYSTEM AND ARE USING A COMMON SEPTIC TANK LOCATED BETWEEN THE TWO RESIDENCES. THE SEPTIC TANK EITHER HAS COLLAPSED OR IS FILLED TO CAPACITY. RAW SEWAGE HAD ACCUMULATED TO THE POINT OF A VERY LARGE POND ACESSIBLE TO ALL. INSPECTORS ON SITE THEN LEFT A DETAILED MESSAGE AT A MR FRANK BURCH (OWNER) @ 749-9043 AND A JOCK SERVETTI (MGR-ALL BROKERS) @ 323-9950 (OFC) & 869-7480 (CELL). DEPARTMENT OF ENVIRONMENTAL QUALITY WAS THEN CONTACTED IN ORDER TO EVALUATE THE SEWAGE HAZARD IN RE TO HEALTH OF THE OCCUPANTS. MIKE REDMOND(740-3358) OF COUNTY HEALTH DEEMED THE POTENTAL HEALTH RISK AS IMMEDIATLY HAZARDOUS AND MADE CONTACT WITH THE MGMT COMPANY INFORMING THEM THAT A NOTICE OF VIOLATION WILL BE ISSUED AND THAT THE SITUATION MUST BE ABATED WITHIN 24 HRS. THE MGMT COMPANY DID SECURE A PLUMBING COMPANY TO PUMP ALL THE SEWAGE BUT THE LAST INSPECTION AS A FOLLOW UP DID SHOW THAT THE REQUIRED TREATMENT OF THE CONTAMINATED GROUND DID STILL NEED TO BE ADDRESSED. OWNER WILL HAVE TO PUMP EVERYDAY IF NEEDED ACCORDING TO HEALTH DEPARTMENT. DSC WILL MONITOR THE SITUATION DAILY UNTIL ALL ISSUES ARE RESOLVED. NOTE: THE OWNER HAS BEEN WORKING WITH THE COUNTY IN ORDER TO GET THE SEWER SYSTEM HOOKED UP.
