1035 pm - Called out to site by TFD for a car fire under the carport of the rear unit at the far south end of the property, unit 1520. Fire burned the car and caused damage to the drywall ceiling above this area. There is soot staining to drywall in this carport, as well as in the carport ceiling of the unit to the north. A large, approximately 10' x 20' area of drywall has been removed from the ceiling prior to my arrival. Per TFD, fire did not spread beyond the drywall. There are no visible electrical lines in this area. There is no visible fire damage to the floor joists in this area. Siding is melted above the carport on the east and west walls of the structure, and along the porch of the unit. The beams of the second floor balcony are rotted (south side) and appears detached (north side) and requires repairs. The top breaker is cracked/damaged and as such cannot be turned on or off. The breaker panel is also loose on the wall. The stairway railing to this unit is detached from the wall. In this same area, there is a lightswitch that is detached from the wall and hanging by the electrical conductor, and a lightswitch on the opposite wall has a cracked cover. The unit will not be condemned as the fire did not spread to the unit, however a notice of violation to correct the above listed defects will be issued. -VM |
