Arrived on scene at 737 PM and found that Unit 245 had been impacted by a kitchen fire. The fire sprinkler system activated and extinguished the fire which saved the building from catastrophic damage or death. There is damage to drywall to include smoke damage, and drywall is removed to check for fire spread by the fire department. There is electrical damage to a lower gauge electrical conductor, likely for the stove, in the form of burned sheathing. The outlet next to this likely has heat and/or water damage and should be replaced. I found breaker #1 turned off on my arrival, and found breakers #2 and #3 tripped. The unit is full of water and crews are on site extracting water. Unit was red tagged as unsafe to occupy and permits are required for all repairs with use of a licensed contractor. I checked the two units below this one. In Unit 130, I found no water intrusion and the electrical panel is dry, with no tripped breakers. In Unit 132, I found water intrusion above the counter in kitchen, and in the living/bedroom. I found no water intrusion around electrical fixtures and the electrical panel is dry with no visible water. -VM |
