09/06/2024 | COT - ENFC - Code Enforcement - Initial | In Violation | 1114 AM - Called out to site by TFD. Upon arrival, crews were still putting out the fire due to an active bee hive inside the structure. The fire occurred in the second floor of Bldg 2 towards the middle of the building. There is damage to roof, and wall structural members. Large holes into ceiling throughout. Entire building has structural damage and has evidence of squatters. Property is owned by City of Tucson Housing and Community Development. Property manager arrived on site and called an exterminator. The exterminator arrived and found a very large beehive inside of an outdoor ceiling of the structure. Code Enforcement requested 7 door openings including 1 at the laundry room, and a hole into the wall of the building be secured. There is a fence at the rear that has been cut where it would appear transients are entering the property. The scene was released to the City of Tucson Housing Property Manager. The structures on site are clearly becoming a nuisance to the surrounding community as evident by fires and other criminal activity to include trespassing onto the property. Will be following up with management to determine the next steps for this nuisance property. -VM |
