| 07/18/2025 | COT - ENFC - Code Enforcement - Initial | In Violation | 855 am - Called out to site by TFD. Fire started in Unit G3. There is heavy fire damage in bedroom. Smoke damage, water damage in living room. Windows are busted out. Per TFD, fire did not breach drywall of the ceiling, or enter any other units. The G Building has a total of 8 apartments. G3, the fire source, is at the northeast corner of the G building. G4 is the next door unit on the ground floor; G13 is directly above G3; G14 is directly above G4 on the east side of the building. There is a breezeway that separates these 4 units from the units on the west side of the building. G1 is located at southwest corner of building, across from G4 on the ground floor, G2 is across from the fire unit G3, G11 is above G1, and G12 is above G2. Upon arrival on site, found there is one electric meter for the entire property. There is one disconnect for the entire G building, which was off at my arrival. I did place a City padlock on the disconnect to prevent reconnection. There are two gas meters, one serving the east half of the building and the other serving the west half. Per Southwest Gas (SWG), both meters are off upon arrival. Per SWG, there is no visible damage or signs of damage to the west side of the building gas lines. There is no reason to leave gas off to the west side at this time. Gas vis locked off, will remain off to the east side (Units G3, G4, G13, G14) and tests and permits are required for reconnect. Unit G3 will be condemned, permits required with use of licensed contractor. A licensed electrician may review the electrical system and isolate power to the fire damaged unit, a report will be required before reconnecting power at the main disconnect. All other units are condemned due to electrical service is off. -VM |
