Fire was started due to homeowner using a torch connected to a propane tank to kill weeds in the rear yard. Entire structure with exception of northwest bedroom burned. There is damage and charring to structural members throughout the living space. All structural members of the rear porch are either charred or detached from the structure and the rear porch has collapsed. Rear doors and windows are busted out. The fire has caused damage to the roof and portions of the roof have burned and are missing. Electrical conductors throughout the home are burned and bare. Wood siding to the rear apparent bedroom is burned and missing. The fire spread through the wash to neighboring property 9421 E Lorain Pl due to weeds and grass in the wash and burned the wood picket fence of 9421 and caused damage to wooden beams on a structure in the west side yard. Electric was found off at the meter upon arrival. City contractor was called to board a broken window and secure the side gate. Owner secured the front doors of the structure. Home was posted unsafe to occupy. Permits required to demolish or repair the structure with use of a licensed contractor. -VM |
