06/13/2024 COT - ENFC - Code Enforcement - Initial In Violation Called out to site by TFD. Arrived and TFD had left the scene. Call came in as an odor of smoke, smoke detectors going off, but no fire. Contact with night security guard on site. Entered unit and found all breakers had been turned off. Entered bedroom at northeast corner of unit. Found drywall was removed along the north wall and there was an electrical fire with burned and bare conductors. Fire damage to the stud in this area and plywood on the exterior side of the wall. Spoke to occupant of this room who stated he had a space heater plugged in at this location, directly into the wall. He woke up to smoke and smoke detectors, going off, and saw flames coming out of the outlet. Left all breakers off and padlocked the panel as the unit is not individually metered. Posted unit unsafe to occupy. Security secured the unit. Permits are required for repairs with use of a licensed contractor. -VM
