Arrived and the units were starting to clear and checking for hot spots. The fire started in the kitchen area where construction tools were being stored. The wooden floor and floor joist have been burned and made a hole approx. 8' x 6'. A vent hole was cut in the roof in the kitchen area. The unit is being remodled and found no permits for some work being done that will require permits. The kitchen has a wooden floor and appears that extension cords were being used for the tools in the area and may have been still connected to some tools. The ceiling was completely removed and the wood joist were burned and the fire started to go into the attic space in the kitchen area. The fire unit is connected to another unit and the smoke carried to the other unit through the attic space. The electrical was removed at the meter due to the damage to the wiring in the attic space. A vent hole was cut on the roof in the kitchen area. The front door was kicked in and damaged to the wood door jamb. A window in the living room has broken in the area that was double pane and the exterior is still OK to secure the area. The kitchen window burned through. The walls in the kitchen have wood lath backing and plaster on top with another wall furred out with drywall that was pulled down to check for fire in the wall. No gas to the property. Did do the posting of the paperwork on the front door and Do Not Enter. Called Arcaiden Industries to the site to have the unit secured. Rear door was able to be locked.
