I MET MAINTANENCE AT ROOM #209, KNOCKED ON THE DOOR RECEIVED NO ANSWER. MAINTANENCE ALLOWED ENTRY INTO THE ROOM. I ASKED IF OCCUPANTS HAD BEEN MOVED MAINTANENCE STATED THEY WERE MOVED TO UNIT #112 UNTIL CODE ENFORCEMENT COMPLETED THEIR INSPECTION. I WAS TOLD THAT THE ACCIDENT ACTUALLY HAPPENED ON SATURDAY 12/04. A TOASTER WAS SETTING ON TOP OF THE STOVE ON THE RIGHT SIDE BURNER, OCCUPANT OPENED THE MICROWAVE, WATER DRIPPED OUT OF THE MICROWAVE, AND ONTO THE TOASTER CAUSING THE TOASTER TO ARCH AND START THE TOASTER ON FIRE. I NEVER SAW THE TOASTER, WHEN I ENTERED THE UNIT I FOUND IT TO BE VERY CLEAN, KITCHEN TABLE, COUNTERTOPS ALL CLEAN. I CHECKED THE OUTLETS AND SWITCHES TURNED SWITCHES ON AND OFF AND ALL LIGHTS AND FAN ABOVE THE STOVE ALL WORKING. I REMOVED THE CANNED LIGHT COVERS, THE CANNED LIGHTS WERE DRY, AS WAS THE FAN. WE OPENED THE MICROWAVE IT WAS ALSO CLEAN. I DID NOT HOWEVER TURN THE MICROWAVE ON, AS IT LOOKED LIKE IT WAS NOT AFFECTED. I ASKED MAINTANENCE IF THERE WAS A LEAK IN THE ABOVE UNIT, HE STATED THERE WAS A SINK HOSE THAT HAD A CUT IN THE HOSE AND WAS LEAKING BUT WAS UNCLEAR OF WHEN THE LEAK HAPPENED. THE REPAIR WAS MAKE IN UNIT #309 JUST UNSURE WHEN. THERE WERE NO SIGNS OF A LEAK, NO DISCOLORING AROUND ANY FIXTURES, PAINT WAS NOT BLISTERED. BECAUSE I FOUND NO DEFECTIVE ELECTRICAL AND THE FACT THAT THE TENANTS HAD BEEN PLACED I HAD NO ISSUES. I WAS CONTACTED BY THE OCCUPANTS MOTHER WHO ASKED IF I HAD SEEN THE VIDEO AND I TOLD HER I HAD NOT. SHE STATED THAT IN THE VIDEO YOU COULD SEE WATER DRIPING FROM THE MICROWAVE. I WAS SENT THE VIDEO AND I LOOKED AT IT CLOSELY TWICE AND DID SEE THE WATER LEAKING OUT AT THE BOTTOM RIGHT SIDE OF THE DOOR. I TOLD HER THAT I DID LOOK INSIDE THE MICROWAVE, IT WAS VERY CLEAN AND I DID NOT FEEL I NEEDED TO RUN THE MICROWAVE. I LATER TEXTED THE OWNER AND TOLD HER TO SPEAK TO THE MANAGER AND ASK IF THE MAINTANENCE PERSON COULD PULL THE MICROWAVE AND CHECK IT FOR MOISTURE, SHE SAID SHE WOULD. THERE WAS ALSO A CABINET ABOVE THE MICROWAVE AND I STATED WATER WOULD HAVE TO SEEP THRU THE CABINET ABOVE INTO THE MICROWAVE AND I DID CHECK THE CABINET, IT WAS ALSO CLEAN AND NO SIGNS OF WATER DAMAGE. I ASKED IF SHE HAD FURTHER QUESTIONS TO PLEASE CONTACT ME. TODAYS INSPECTION FOUND NO ELECTRICAL ISSUES AND NO ACTIVE LEAKS. THERE ARE NO VIOLATIONS. COMPLIANCE / CLOSE CASE. |
