09/08/2019 INSP - INITIAL CODE ENFORCMENT GOODMAN Approved VISITED SITE, MET WITH TFD FIRE CAPTAIN WHO STATED ROOFERS HAD STRIPPED THE ROOF SO THAT THEY COULD REROOF THE WEST COMPLEX. THEY STARTED TO REMOVE THE ROOF COVERING ON SATURDAY 9/07/19 BUT WERE NOT ABLE TO COVER THE ROOF BEFORE THEY LEFT THE JOB. DUMPSTER IN FRONT OF THE WEST COMPLEX AND ROOF COVERING INSIDE WAS EVIDENCE THAT THE ROOF COVERING HAD BEEN REMOVED. SECURITY PEOPLE ON SITE KNEW THE MANAGEMENT AND MAINTANENCE TEAMS. THEY WERE ASKED TO CONTACT THE MANAGERS FOR US WHILE WE WALKED THE UNITS. MANAGER CARMEN ACOSTA ARRIVED ON SITE AND A TEAM SUPERVISOR WHO WAS VERY HELPFUL DETERMINING WHAT UNITS WERE VACANT AND IF THEIR OTHER COMPLEX HAD AVAILABLE UNITS. MAINTANENCE PERSONEL WERE ALREADY ON THE ROOF AND TARPING OFF THE ROOF WITH PLASTIC. TFD AND CODE ENFORCEMENT WALKED EACH SIDE OF THE BUILDING, THERE WERE 3 FLOORS, 6 UNITS PER FLOOR, 18 UNIT PER SIDE FOR A TOTAL OF 36 UNITS. KNOCKED ON DOORS OF EACH AND EVERY UNIT. ON THE WEST SIDE OF THE COMPLEX WE HAD 4 VACANT UNITS, 5 NO ANSWER, 1 PERSON WHO HAD HOUSING AND 8 UNITS THAT REQUIRED HOUSING FOR A TOTAL OF 28 PEOPLE. ON THE EAST SIDE OF THE COMPLEX WE HAD THE OFFICE, 2 VACANT AND 5 NO ANSWERS. THE REMAINDER OF THE UNITS WERE OCCUPIED BUT WANTED TO STAY IN THE UNIT. INSPECTION FOUND THE WATER DAMAGE NOT AS BAD AS THE WEST SIDE OF THE COMPLEX AND PEOPLE HAD ALREADY CAUGHT THE WATER IN BUCKETS, AND TOWELS OR MOPPED IT UP. DAMAGE WAS MINIMAL AND OCCUPANTS ALLOWED TO STAY. EACH OCCUPANTS UNIT WAS INSPECTED AND OCCUPANT GIVEN THE OPTION TO BE HOUSED OR STAY IN THE UNIT AND GET WITH MANAGEMENT WITH REPAIRS. DAMAGE CAME THRU THE SPRINKLER HEADS IN THE UNITS, ESPECIALLY THE CLOSET AND DOWN THE FRONT WALLS OF THE UNIT WHERE WE FOUND PAINT BUBBLING BECAUSE WATER GOT BEHIND THE PAINT. THERE WAS SOME DRYWALL DAMAGE BUT MINIMAL. RED CROSS WAS CONTACTED TO HELP WITH THE SITUATION. MANAGEMENT HELPED BY CONTACTING MOTELS FOR VACANCY AND FOUND THE BEST WESTERN ON 6200 N ORACLE ABLE TO HOUSE ALL OCCUPANTS. SUNTRAN WAS CONTACTED AND PROVIDED A BUS FOR THOSE OCCUPANTS WHO DID NOT HAVE TRANSPORTATION, AND TRANSPORTED ALL BUT 6 OCCUPANTS. THE EAST SIDE COMPLEX OF 36 UNITS WAS NOT AFFECTED. MANAGEMENT CONTACTED WATER EXTRACTION CONTRACTOR TO VACCUM OUT THE UNITS, AND MAJOR PART OF WATER HAS ALREADY BEEN REMOVED.
