02/27/2015 INSP - INITIAL CODE ENFORCMENT GOODMAN Approved VISITED SITE, MET WITH OCCUPANT CHARLES HARVEY WHO STATED HE WAS GETTING READ TO MOVE AND IS ALSO IN A COURT BATTLE WITH THE OWNER BUT DID NOT SAY WHY. I ASKED MR HARVEY TO SHOW ME THE ISSUES, HE SHOWED ME A CRACK IN THE CARPORT SLAB, NO MORE THAT A 1/4 " WIDE, SHOWED ME THE FOOTER BELOW EXTERIOR SIDING WITH NO INDICATION OF WHY IT WAS CRACKING, THEN SHOWED ME THE INTERIOR HALL LIGHTS AND FIXTURES HAD MISSING BULBS. MR HARVEY ALSO STATED THAT THERE WAS A ROOF LEAK, WHEN I LOOKED AT THE COOLER MY THOUGHT WAS THAT THE COOLER WAS TURNED OFF DUE TO THE COOLER COVER OVER THE COOLER AND THAT PERHAPS THE WATER WAS TURNED BACK ON TO THE COOLER AND OVERFLOWING, BUT THE COOLER WAS NOT IN USE WHEN I WAS THERE AND PROBABLY NOT USED IN FEBRUARY DUE TO COOLER WEATHER. IT SEEMED THAT THE WATER TO THE COOLER COULD SIMPLY BE TURNED OFF BUT I COULD NOT FIND SHUT OFF. ALL COMPLAINTS APPEARED THAT THE TENANT WAS DIGGING FOR ISSUES AS WE HAD NO JURISDICTION ON THE CRACKS IN CONCRETE, AND LIGHT MISSING BULBS BUT ELECTRIC IN ALL ROOMS WORKING OK. TWO DAYS AFTER MY INITIAL INSPECTION I RECEIVED A CALL FROM A HOUSING AGENCY STATING THEY WERE FOLLOWING UP FOR MR HARVEY SAYING THAT THEY UNDERSTAND MR HARVEY WAS BEING EVICTED DUE TO THE CITY OF TUCSON CONDEMING HIS HOUSE. I EXPLAINED TO THE PERSON THAT THE INSPECTION WAS JUST CONDUCTED, WE HAD NOT MADE A DECISION ON THE INSPECTION, BUT THE PROPERTY WAS NOT CONDEMNED BY THE CITY OF TUCSON. *** I WENT OVER THE ISSUES WITH RICK SALDATE, AND HE AGREED THAT IT SOUNDED LIKE THE TENANT WAS FISHING FOR ISSUES, HAD NOT BEEN FORTH RIGHT AND DID SOUND LIKE HE WAS BEING EVICTED. RICK ALLOWED ME TO CLOSE THE CASE AND IF THERE WERE ANY FUTHER COMPLAINTS OR ISSUES THAT CAME UP IN THE FUTURE, WE WOULD RE OPEN A CASE AND FOLLOW UP AT THAT TIME. NO VIOLATION / CLOSE CASE.
