LOST CONCEISNESS, LOST CONTROL OF THE CAR AND DROVE INTO THE SIDE OF THE CAFE, OCCUPANTS HAD JUST CLOSED FOR THE DAY, SOME WORKERS STILL ON SITE AFTER LOCKING UP. > TRIED CONTACTING OWNER JEFF KATZ, LEFT A MESSAGE > CONTACTED LAURA GRIJALVA, SHE ASKED HER CONTRACTOR BE ALLOWED TO SECURE AND CLEAN UP THE AREA. SHE CONTACTED HIM FIRST AND THEN INFORMED ME HE WAS ON HIS WAY. > CONTACTED ERIC OF EK CONSTRUCTION EXPLAINED WHAT HAPPENED AND WHAT MATERIALS HE MAY NEED. > CALLED COMMUNICATIONS TO CALL S/W GAS TO COME OUT AND CONDUCT A LINE TEST, AND CHECK APPLIANCES. >ASKED TPD TO CONTACT FRONTIER TOWING. >CHECKED SERVICE PANEL AND NO BREAKERS HAD BEEN TRIPPED. AFTER MAKING ALL NECESSARY CALLS I FOUND A WHITE VOLVO SEDAN HAD ENTERED THE S/W CORNER OF THE STRUCTURE. THE ENTRY DOOR ON THE WEST WALL AND WINDOW AT THE SOUTH WALL HAD BEEN DAMAGED, BLOCK CORNER OF THE BUILDING, BLOCK AREA UNDER THE WINDOW, AND BLOCK AREA NEXT TO THE DOOR HAD BEEN DAMAGED. METAL LENTALS ABOVE THE DOOR AND WINDOW WERE NO LONGER PROPERLY SUPPORTING THE AREAS ABOVE AND BLOCK ABOVE THE LENTALS SHOWING LARGE CRACKS. CAR ENTERED BELOW THE WINDOW ON THE SOUTH SIDE AND ALSO DAMAGED A INTERIOR RETURN WALL RUNNING NORTH FROM THE EXTERIOR BLOCK WALL DAMAGING METAL STUDS, DRYWALL, AND ELECTRICAL OUTLETS AND LIGHT SWITCHES. ACOUSTICAL CEILING REMAINED INTACT, NO DAMAGE OR MOVING OF THE ACOUTIC CEILING. S/W GAS CONDUCTED A LINE TEST AND IT CHECKED OUT OK, NO LEAKES TO THE APPLIANCES, BUT THE GAS WAS SHUT OFF TO THE APPLIANCES. FRONT DOOR WAS REMOVED, DAMAGED FRAME CUT, AND LENTAL SUPPORTED BY 4 X 4 POSTS, SAME WITH THE 5-0 X 3-0 WINDOW. ONCE LENTALS WERE SUPPORTED THE CAR WAS REMOVED AND ALL DEBRIS REMOVED FROM THE INTERIOR OF THE BUILDING, AND BUILDING THEN SECURED BY BOARD UP AND OWNERS CONTRACTOR. ISOLATED THE ELECTRICAL PANEL ALLOWING ONLY THE FREEZERS, REFRIGERATOR, ICE MACHINES, AND KITCHEN LIGHTS TO REMAIN ON. HEALTH DEPT REQUEST THAT IF POSSIBLE THE REFREGERATORS REMAIN ON. (BEST FOR THE OCCUPANT) . NOV WAS ISSUED TO THE CAFE OWNER. PERMIT WAS REQUIRED, FOR ALL REPAIRS TO BE COMPLETED UNDER PERMIT.
10/29/2014 INSP - FOLLOW UP CODE ENFORCE GOODMAN Approved INSPECTION FOUND WORK BEING COMPLETED UNDER PERMIT #T14CM05932 BY ABRACADABRA RESTORATION. WORK APPROX 50% COMPLETE. WILL REINSPECT WITHIN 30 DAYS.
