07/05/2014 INSP - INITIAL CODE ENFORCMENT VIDAL Approved Received call that T.F.D. on site with a flooded unit. Arrived and the unit was on the bottom of a 2-story complex. The unit has a scupper on the exterior of the unit that was leaking from the upper unit. The upper unit was vacant and T.F.D. did a force entry to check where the water was coming from. The upper unit has the same damage on the walls and ceiling where the water was leaking from the roof and wetting the insulation and the drywall as the lower unit. The unit had 3" of water inside when T.F.D. on site and still has about an 1" at the time of the inspection. Not able to make contact with the manager or maintenance. Did call several times and left a message. The Red Cross did show to the site to place the tenants in a hotel. Once the Red Cross completed the paper work, the power was turned off except the refrigerator in the kitchen. The posting of "Do Not Enter" was on the front door. While waiting for the tenants to leave the maintenance supervisor showed and went over the damage to the unit. The front window was broken and removed the window from the upper unit and change with the broken window on the lower unit leaving the unit secured. The tenants were going to let the supervisor extract the unit if they can find some one to do the work. At this time no one answering the call to extract the unit at this time. Did show the damage on both units and that the roof needs to be checked before repairing the units. They were in the process of getting bids to repair or replace the roof through out the complex. The tenants will be trying to find or check into getting another unit. Will check in 10 days. RV.
10/20/2014 INSP - FOLLOW UP CODE ENFORCE GOODMAN Approved VISITED SITE, SPOKE WITH MANAGER WHO MENTIONED TENANTS NEVER MOVED BACK IN AND THAT UNIT REMAINS VACANT. VISITED UNIT #1157 DID FIND UNIT VACANT BUT SECURED. CARPET HAD BEEN REMOVED FROM THE STRUCTURE AND NOTHING ELSE REALLY DONE. MANAGER DID MENTION THAT THE GUTTERS SCUPPERS HAD BEEN CLEANED OUT AND REPAIRS COMPLETED. CODE ENFORCEMENT NO LONGER HAS JURISDICTION DUE TO VACANT STRUCTURE. COMPLIANCE / CLOSE CASE.
