12/02/2010 VIOL - BUILDING SVCS & SYSTEMS JLONGO Correction Required 605.1 Abatement of electrical hazards. Identified electrical hazards shall be abated. Identified hazardous electrical conditions in permanent wiring shall be brought to the attention of the code official responsible for enforcement of the ICC Electrical Code. Electrical wiring, devices, appliances and other equipment that is modified or damaged and constitutes an electrical shock or fire hazard shall not be used. _____ Remove the broken metal piece lodged in the electrical outlet (broken grounding) 603.4 Portable unvented heaters. Portable unvented fuel-fired heating equipment shall be prohibited in occupancies in Groups A, E, I, R-1, R-2, R-3 and R-4. ______ Remove your unvented (propane) space heater from your building.
12/02/2010 VIOL - FIRE PROTECTION SYSTEMS JLONGO Correction Required 904.5.1 System test. Systems shall be inspected and tested for proper operation at 6-month intervals. Tests shall include a check of the detection system, alarms and releasing devices, including manual stations and other associated equipment. Extinguishing system units shall be weighed and the required amount of agent verified. Stored pressure-type units shall be checked for the required pressure. The cartridge of cartridge-operated units shall be weighed and replaced at intervals indicated by the manufacturer. _____ Service, test, and tag your hood extinguishing system 904.11.5 Portable fire extinguishers for commercial cooking equipment. Portable fire extinguishers shall be provided within a 30-foot (9144 mm) travel distance of commercial-type cooking equipment. Cooking equipment involving vegetable or animal oils and fats shall be protected by a Class K rated portable extinguisher. _____ Your kitchen requires a class K extinguisher and needs to have one placed in your cooking area immediatly. 904.11.6.3 Cleaning. Hoods, grease-removal devices, fans, ducts and other appurtenances shall be cleaned at intervals necessary to prevent the accumulation of grease. Cleanings shall be recorded, and records shall state the extent, time and date of cleaning. Such records shall be maintained on the premises. _____ The hood system in your building has been found unfit and requires a cleaning. You are to have your hood system cleaned immediately and provide the proper paper work to prove that the required cleaning has been done professionally. Section 904.11.7 All deep-fat fryers shall be installed with at least a 16 inch (406 mm) space between the fryer and surface flames of adjacent cooking appliances. Exception: 1. Where a steel or tempered glass baffle plate is installed at a minimum 8 inches (203 mm) in height between the fryer and surface flames of the adjacent cooking appliance, the requirement for a 16 inch space shall not apply. Where the fryer and the surface flames of the adjacent cooking appliance are at different horizontal planes, the minimum height of 8 inches (203 mm) shall be measured from the higher of the two. _____ Properly separate your fryer from open flames or create a proper barrier according to code. 906.7 Hangers and brackets. Hand-held portable fire extinguishers, not housed in cabinets, shall be installed on the hangers or brackets supplied.
