Extension cords shall be used only with portable appliances. 605.1 Abatement of electrical hazards. Identified electrical hazards shall be abated. Identified hazardous electrical conditions in permanent wiring shall be brought to the attention of the code official responsible for enforcement of the ICC Electrical Code. Fire detection, alarm and extinguishing systems shall be maintained in an operative condition at all times, and shall be replaced or repaired where defective. 906.6 Unobstructed and unobscured. Portable fire extinguishers shall not be obstructed or obscured from view. 10/20/2010 VIOL - MEANS OF EGRESS JLONGO Correction Required 1008.1.8.5 Unlatching. The unlatching of any door or leaf shall not require more than one operation 1008.1.8 Door operations. Except as specifically permitted by this section egress doors shall be readily openable from the egress side without the use of a key or special knowledge or effort. 1008.1.8.1 Hardware. Door handles, pulls, latches, locks and other operating devices on doors required to be accessible by Chapter 11 of the International Building Code shall not require tight grasping, tight pinching or twisting of the wrist to operate. _____ Remove the pad lock and latch from your flute room _____ Remove the drop bar from your s/w storage room. _____ Turn your office door handle around or remove the locking device to allow proper egress from your office storage room. 1028.2 Reliability. Required exit accesses, exits or exit discharges shall be continuously maintained free from obstructions or impediments to full instant use in the case of fire or other emergency when the areas served by such exits are occupied. 1028.3 Obstructions. A means of egress shall be free from obstructions that would prevent its use. _____ Remove all obstructions hindering the use, the path, or the activity of the egress door and be sure to always maintain a clear and obstruction free path to all your egress doors and pathways. 1027.3 Exit sign illumination. Exit signs shall be internally or externally illuminated. The face of an exit sign illuminated from an external source shall have an intensity of not less than 5 foot-candles (54 lux). Internally illuminated signs shall provide equivalent luminance and be listed for the purpose. _____ Fix, repair, and/or replace all non-working exit signs in order to meet code standards (Basement, S/E back wall) 1027.5 Illumination emergency power. The power supply for means of egress illumination shall normally be provided by the premises' electrical supply. In the event of power supply failure, illumination shall be automatically provided from an emergency system for the following occupancies where such occupancies require two or more means of egress: all Emergency lighting shall be functional and properly maintained in conjunction with IFC section 1027. _____ Fix, repair, or replace the emergency lighting unit(s) in order to meet code standards (S/W wall, Basement) 1011.1 Where required An approved exit sign shall mark exits and exit access doors and be readily visible from any direction of egress travel. Access to exits shall be marked by readily visible exit signs, in cases where the exit or the path of egress travel is not immediately visible to the occupants; Exit sign placement shall be such that no point in a corridor is more than 100 feet (30 480 mm) or the listed viewing distance for the sign, whichever is less, from the nearest visible exit sign. Exceptions: 1. Exit signs are not required in rooms or areas that require only one exit or exit access. 2.
