| 07/23/2009 | INSP - FULL | NSPRENGE | Correction Required | I checked the business yesterday and found that this is mostly a repair process going on in this building, The buses are mostly metal siding, and have minimal paint ( mirrors, windshield wipers, etc.). They have been using 1 Low velocity spray gun that holds 1 pint of liquid. There were two 1 gallon cans of paint on the who premises. There were no paint operations going on at the time I was there, however they told me that they do paint inside for the small parts ( all parts they showed were less thean 9 square feet of area.) My concern is less than adequate ventilation. Adequate ventilation can be achieved by painting the small parts outside the building away from ignition sources These are small touch up paint jobs and not continuous. The outside storage shed had no chemicals in it. All chemicals on the premises were in original containers, labeled, however storage seems messy. They have 50 gal drums of oil, transmission fluid, and brake fluid with proper labels and properly stored. They have secondary containment for all drums and in within there quantity limits. I will have them install no smoking signs near their parts cleaner and waste container for the paint thinner. They will have to move the parts cleaner machine 3 feet from electrical outlets. It is an approved system with a fusable link for the lid. They need a full inspection and I will schedule that today with the business manager ( have already told him). |
