06/09/2009 VIOL - MEANS OF EGRESS MPURSLEY Correction Required 1027.5 Illumination emergency power. The power supply for means of egress illumination shall normally be provided by the premises' electrical supply. In the event of power supply failure, illumination shall be automatically provided from an emergency system for the following occupancies where such occupancies require two or more means of egress: all Emergency lighting shall be functional and properly maintained in conjunction with IFC section 1027. _____ Fix, repair, and/or replace the emergency lighting in order to meet code standards 1011.5.3 Power source. Exit signs shall be illuminated at all times. To ensure continued illumination for the duration of not less than 90 minutes in case of primary power loss, the sign illumination means shall be connected to an emergency power system provided from storage batteries, unit equipment or an on-site generator. The installation of the emergency power system shall be in accordance with Section 2702 of the International Building Code _____Repair Exit signs. 1028.3 Obstructions. A means of egress shall be free from obstructions that would prevent its use. _____ Remove all obstructions and be sure to always maintain a clear and obstruction free path to your exit. 1028.4 Exit signs. Exit signs shall be installed and maintained in accordance with Section 1011.
