06/02/2009 VIOL - FIRE PROTECTION SYSTEMS JLONGO Correction Required 901.6 Inspection, testing and maintenance. Fire detection, alarm and extinguishing systems shall be maintained in an operative condition at all times, and shall be replaced or repaired where defective. _____ Service and tag all portable fire extinguishers in order to meet code standards. (Class K in Kitchen and ABC in laundry room) _____ Service and tag the kitchen hood system. 904.11.6.3 Cleaning. Hoods, grease-removal devices, fans, ducts and other appurtenances shall be cleaned at intervals necessary to prevent the accumulation of grease. Cleanings shall be recorded, and records shall state the extent, time and date of cleaning. Such records shall be maintained on the premises. _____ The hood system in your building has been found unfit and requires a cleaning. You are to have your hood system cleaned immediately and provide the proper paper work to prove that the required cleaning has been done professionally.
06/02/2009 VIOL - MEANS OF EGRESS JLONGO Correction Required 1027.5 Illumination emergency power. The power supply for means of egress illumination shall normally be provided by the premises' electrical supply. In the event of power supply failure, illumination shall be automatically provided from an emergency system for the following occupancies where such occupancies require two or more means of egress: all Emergency lighting shall be functional and properly maintained in conjunction with IFC section 1027. _____ Fix, repair, or replace the emergency lighting unit(s) in order to meet code standards. (restroom hall) 1008.1.8 Door operations. Except as specifically permitted by this section egress doors shall be readily openable from the egress side without the use of a key or special knowledge or effort. _____ Remove the double-key locks from the gates at your rear egress patio and/or replace with an approved locking device such as, thumb turn lock or panic hardware 1027.3 Exit sign illumination. Exit signs shall be internally or externally illuminated. The face of an exit sign illuminated from an external source shall have an intensity of not less than 5 foot-candles (54 lux). Internally illuminated signs shall provide equivalent luminance and be listed for the purpose. _____ Fix, repair, and/or replace all non-working exit signs in order to meet code standards.
