The unlatching of any door or leaf shall not require more than one operation. _____ Remove/deactivate the secondary locking device on all doors throughout the building(s) 1008.1.8.3 Locks and latches. In buildings in occupancy Group A having an occupant load of 300 or less, Groups B, F, M and S, and in places of religious worship, the main exterior door or doors are permitted to be equipped with key-operated locking devices from the egress side provided: -- 2.1. The locking device is readily distinguishable as locked, -- 2.2. A readily visible durable sign is posted on the egress side on or adjacent to the door stating: THIS DOOR TO REMAIN UNLOCKED WHEN BUILDING IS OCCUPIED. The sign shall be in letters 1 inch (25 mm) high on a contrasting background, -- 2.3. The use of the key-operated locking device is revokable by the fire code official for due cause. _____ Place the wording "THIS DOOR TO REMAIN UNLOCKED WHEN BUILDING IS OCCUPIED" visibly above your main egress door(s) (place the wording on the rod-iron doors as well) 1028.2 Reliability. Required exit accesses, exits or exit discharges shall be continuously maintained free from obstructions or impediments to full instant use in the case of fire or other emergency when the areas served by such exits are occupied. 1028.3 Obstructions. A means of egress shall be free from obstructions that would prevent its use. _____ Maintain a clear path to all egress doors, no door shall be obstructed at any time.
