Portable fire extinguishers shall not be obstructed or obscured from view. In rooms or areas in which visual obstruction cannot be completely avoided, means shall be provided to indicate the locations of extinguishers. 906.7 Hangers and brackets. Hand-held portable fire extinguishers, not housed in cabinets, shall be installed on the hangers or brackets supplied. Hangers or brackets shall be securely anchored to the mounting surface in accordance with the manufacturer's installation instructions. _____ Service, tag, hang, and maintain all portable fire exstinguishers according to code standards. Locks and latches shall be permitted to prevent operation of doors where any of the following exists… -- 2. In buildings in occupancy Group A having an occupant load of 300 or less, Groups B, F, M and S, and in places of religious worship, the main exterior door or doors are permitted to be equipped with key-operated locking devices from the egress side provided: -- 2.1. The locking device is readily distinguishable as locked, -- 2.2. A readily visible durable sign is posted on the egress side on or adjacent to the door stating: THIS DOOR TO REMAIN UNLOCKED WHEN BUILDING IS OCCUPIED. The sign shall be in letters 1 inch (25 mm) high on a contrasting background, -- 2.3. The use of the key-operated locking device is revokable by the fire code official for due cause. * * According to code; all required exits that are key locked shall be kept unlocked while the building is occupied. One of your doors was found locked during normal buisness hours. To avoid the removel of this key lock you must follow the code standards. ** 1011.5.3 Power source. Exit signs shall be illuminated at all times. To ensure continued illumination for a duration of not less than 90 minutes in case of primary power loss, the sign illumination means shall be connected to an emergency power system provided from storage batteries, unit equipment or an on-site generator. The installation of the emergency power system shall be in accordance with Section 2702 of the International Building Code _____ Fix, repair, and bring all exit signs into code compliance 1027.5 Illumination emergency power. The power supply for means of egress illumination shall normally be provided by the premises' electrical supply. In the event of power supply failure, illumination shall be automatically provided from an emergency system for the following occupancies where such occupancies require two or more means of egress: all Emergency lighting shall be functional and properly maintained in conjunction with IFC section 1027. _____ Fix and bring all Emergency lighting units into code compliance as they have no back up power. 1027.8 Opening force for doors. The opening force for interior side-swinging doors without closers shall not exceed a 5-pound (22 N) force. For other side-swinging, sliding and folding doors, the door latch shall release when subjected to a force of not more than 15 pounds (66 N). _____ Fix rear storage exit door so that it does not take extra effort to open and leave the occupancy. 1008.1.8.5 Unlatching. The unlatching of any door or leaf shall not require more than one operation. _____ The drop bar on the rear egress door is not allowed and shall be removed from door operations. 1028.2 Reliability. Required exit accesses, exits or exit discharges shall be continuously maintained free from obstructions or impediments to full instant use in the case of fire or other emergency when the areas served by such exits are occupied. _____ Always maintain a reliable path of at least 36 inches to any egress door. ________________________________________________ (Joseph P.
