02/26/2008 INSP - FULL JBEZEL Correction Required The Tucson Fire Department has conducted a fire safety inspection at the above stated business . Below is a list of violations that shall be corrected to provide compliance with the applicable codes, regulations and ordinances. Compliance is required by the 2006 International Fire Code (with modifications). ___1. PROBLEM: Electrical cords from signs running through ceiling tile into space above ceiling tile. TFC REFERENCE: 605.5 Extension cords. Extension cords and flexible cords shall not be a substitute for permanent wiring. Extension cords and flexible cords shall not be affixed to structures, extended through walls, ceilings or floors, or under doors or floor coverings, nor shall such cords be subject to environmental damage or physical impact. REQUIRED CORRECTION: Plug signs into approved outlet or approved power strip. Electrical cords shall not pass through the ceiling. ___2. PROBLEM: Escutcheon plate missing from sprinkler head. TFC REFERENCE: 901.6 Inspection, testing and maintenance. Fire detection, alarm and extinguishing systems shall be maintained in an operative condition at all times, and shall be replaced or repaired where defective. REQUIRED CORRECTION: Have qualified professional replace escutcheon plate. ___3. PROBLEM: Power strip plugged into power cube plugged into socket. TFC REFERENCE: 605.4 Multiplug adapters. Multiplug adapters, such as cube adapters, unfused plug strips or any other device not complying with the ICC Electrical Code shall be prohibited. AND: 605.4.2 Power supply. Relocatable power taps shall be directly connected to a permanently installed receptacle. REQUIRED CORRECTION: Power strip must be plugged directly into wall outlet. Power cube must be removed. ___4. PROBLEM: Extension cord used for T.V., Toaster and in the wax room. TFC REFERENCE: 605.5 Extension cords: Extension cords and flexible cords shall not be a substitute for permanent wiring. REQUIRED CORRECTION: Plug appliances directly into outlets or use power strip. ___5. PROBLEM: Fire extinguisher is lacking a service tag. No evidence of fire extinguisher having been serviced. TFC REFERENCE: 901.6 Inspection, testing and maintenance. Fire detection, alarm and extinguishing systems shall be maintained in an operative condition at all times, and shall be replaced or repaired where defective. Nonrequired fire protection systems and equipment shall be inspected, tested and maintained or removed. REQUIRED CORRECTION: Have portable fire extinguisher serviced or remove from premises. ___6. PROBLEM: ceiling tile above electrical box is missing. Conduit running up into attic with large opening present. TFC REFERENCE: 703.1 Maintenance. The required fire-resistance rating of fire-resistance-rated construction (including walls, firestops, shaft enclosures, partitions, smoke barriers, floors, fire-resistive coatings and sprayed fire-resistant materials applied to structural members and fire-resistant joint systems) shall be maintained. Such elements shall be properly repaired, restored or replaced when damaged, altered, breached or penetrated. Openings made therein for the passage of pipes, electrical conduit, wires, ducts, air transfer openings and holes made for any reason shall be protected with approved methods capable of resisting the passage of smoke and fire. REQUIRED CORRECTION: Have qualified professional seal area around conduit so that smoke and flame cannot travel into attic space above ceiling.
