| 04/25/2007 | INSP - FULL | EGRIFFIN | Violation | On 4-19-07 and 4-24-07, a fire prevention inspection was conducted at 2950 North Euclid and 2950 ½ North Euclid (same property). The following Tucson Fire Code Violation(s) was noted: 1). Currently there seems to be 6 or more types of building uses and or occupations on this property, they include but not limited to: Business office (B) Musical and theater rehearsal and production (B if under 50 persons) Storage of motor vehicle parts (S) Storage of motor vehicles (S) Repair of motor vehicles. (F) Residential (R) The business license that was presented showed, auto repair, and a certificate of occupancy could NOT be produced of auto repair or any of the above building uses. This is in violation of Tucson Fire Code 102.3 and International Building Code 110, which states: 110.1 Use and occupancy. No building or structure shall be used or occupied, and no change in the existing occupancy classification of a building or structure or portion thereof shall be made until the building official has issued a certificate of occupancy therefor as provided herein. Issuance of a certificate of occupancy shall not be construed as an approval of a violation of the provisions of this code or of other ordinances of the jurisdiction. By May 31, 2007, you are hereby ordered to obtain a Certificate of Occupancy that reflects the buildings current and future uses. 2). Remove egg cartons on ceiling in rehearsal area. All interior and acoustic finishes shall meet IFC 806.2 and shall meet the following; 806.2Wall and ceiling finish. Interiorwall and ceiling finishes shall be classified in accordance with Section 803 of the International Building Code. Such interior finishes shall be grouped in the following classes in accordance with their flame spread and smoke-developed index. Class A: Flame spread index 0-25 Smoke-developed index 0-450 Class B: Flame spread index 26-75 Smoke-developed index 0-450 Class C: Flame spread index 76-450 Smoke-developed index 0-450 All future types of interior or acoustic finishing must have documentation showing above information. 3). Currently in storage yard there are over 35 car bodies that have been unused for what seems to be many years. This is indicated by weed growth and piled combustible debris. This current situation is dangerous and a nuisance. This is violation of many Tucson Fire Codes including the following; SECTION 304 COMBUSTIBLE WASTE MATERIAL 304.1 Waste accumulation prohibited. Combustible waste material creating a fire hazard shall not be allowed to accumulate in buildings or structures or upon premises. 304.1.1 Waste material. Accumulations of wastepaper, wood, hay, straw, weeds, litter or combustible or flammable waste or rubbish of any type shall not be permitted to remain on a roof or in any court, yard, vacant lot, alley, parking lot, open space, or beneath a grandstand, bleacher, pier, wharf, manufactured home, recreational vehicle or other similar structure. 304.1.2 Vegetation. Weeds, grass, vines or other growth that is capable of being ignited and endangering property, shall be cut down and removed by the owner or occupant of the premises. Vegetation clearance requirements in urban- wildland interface areas shall be in accordance with the International Urban/Wildland Interface Code. 304.2 Storage. Storage of combustible rubbish shall not produce conditions that will create a nuisance or a hazard to the public health, safety or welfare. This situation is a hazard to the public safety and is a nuisance and shall be abated by May 31, 2007 or schedule of abatement shall be sent to Fire Prevention Captain Ron Summers for approval at same address. Failure to do one of the following shall be subject to civil litigation. Currently there are more than 12 additional cars that are unlawfully licensed and are in different forms of wreckage. These additional cars shall be removed from property immediately. They unsecured and open to the public and these cars a threat to the public safety. BY May 31, 2007 you are hereby ordered to remove all unlawfully licensed cars from street and unsecured areas. 4). In the garage, storage in garage shall be orderly. IFC 304.1 Clean out garage and discard all excess parts. 5). Currently there is a heater in the garage which is hung in a manner which is unapproved. Repair this heater and remove LPG bottle from shelf. IFC 110.1. Do not hang heater in ways not approved by manufacturer or approved by City of Tucson Mechanical Inspector. 6). Remove all expired portable fire extinguishers.. IFC 906.1 7). Remove all batteries from indoors and discontinue battery-charging areas from indoor. IFC 605.1 Currently batteries are unstable and in different forms of disintegration. 8). Remove all flammable liquid containers, which are not factory sealed. Currently there are many open containers. Place in flammable liquid storage cabinet. Only 15 gallons may be out of cabinet at any given time. IFC 3404 9). Currently there is an excessive amount of wood on this property. All excessive wood shall be removed IFC 304.1 10. Repair cabinet that is about to fall and is being braced by swamp cooler motor. Picture taken. IFC 110.1 11). Residential House 2950 ½ N Euclid; Currently this house is vacant, no plumbing, no electrical service and is vacant. There are ":Do Not Occupy" placard on this building. Currently this building has various amounts of bedding, trash and personal effects. This house shall NOT be used for combustible storage and not to be used for residence until approved by City of Tucson safety Inspectors. | 08/22/2007 | INSP - REINSPECTION | EGRIFFIN | Continued | On 8-4-07, a fire prevention reinspection was conducted at 2950 North Euclid, in Tucson, Arizona. Currently all fire code requirements have been met. The issues of motor vehicles and not obtaining a certificate of occupancy have been referred to City of Tucson Department of Neighborhood Services. It may be unlawful to occupy this building (except for repairs to the buildings) without obtaining a Certificate of Occupancy from the City of Tucson.
