02/13/2007 INSP - FULL JDAVIS Correction Required FIRE INSPECTION REPORT 2/13/2007 Party House ATTN: Raymond Mellenberndt 5689 E. 22nd Tucson, AZ. 85711 Mr. Mellenberndt, The Tucson Fire Department has conducted a fire safety inspection at the above stated business on February 13, 2007. Below is a list of violations that shall be corrected to provide compliance with the applicable codes, regulations and ordinances. Compliance is required by the 2003 International Fire Code with modifications. A Re-inspection will be performed on or about February 27, 2007. Violations: 605.6 Unapproved conditions. Open junction boxes and open-wiring splices shall be prohibited. Approved covers shall be provided for all switch and electrical outlet boxes. 1. Replace the missing electrical cover-plate on the wall near the Southwest door. 605.5 Extension cords. Extension cords and flexible cords shall not be a substitute for permanent wiring. Extension cords and flexible cords shall not be affixed to structures, extended through walls, ceilings or floors, or under doors or floor coverings, nor shall such cords be subject to environmental damage or physical impact. Extension cords shall be used only with portable appliances. 1. Near front door behind the counter. 2. Above the soda machine. 3. Above the East booths 4. Throughout 605.4.2 Power supply. Relocatable power taps shall be directly connected to a permanently installed receptacle. 1. Powerstrip near the front display case shall not be run in a series. 1011.2 Illumination. Exit signs shall be internally or externally illuminated. 1. Both the front and rear exit signs shall be illuminated. 1006.3 Illumination emergency power. The power supply for means of egress illumination shall normally be provided by the premise's electrical supply. In the event of power supply failure, an emergency electrical system shall automatically illuminate… 1. The emergency light in the business does not operate. 901.6 Inspection, testing and maintenance. Fire extinguishers shall be serviced annually 1. Throughout the business 2. Properly mount the rear extinguisher 1008.1.8.3 Locks and latches. Locks and latches shall be permitted to prevent operation of doors where any of the following exists: 1. Places of detention or restraint. 2. In buildings in occupancy Group A having an occupant load of 300 or less, Groups B, F, M and S, and in churches, the main exterior door or doors are permitted to be equipped with key-operated locking devices from the egress side provided: 2.1. The locking device is readily distinguishable as locked, 2.2. A readily visible durable sign is posted on the egress side on or adjacent to the door stating: THIS DOOR TO REMAIN UNLOCKED WHEN BUILDING IS OCCUPIED. The sign shall be in letters 1 inch (25mm)high on a contrasting background, 2.3. The use of the key-operated locking device is revokable by the fire code official for due cause. Double key locking devices are only allowed on your main front exit. Your rear door must be provided with a thumb latch device. 605.1 Abatement of electrical hazards. Identified electrical hazards shall be abated. Identified hazardous electrical conditions in permanent wiring shall be brought to the attention of the code official responsible for enforcement of the ICC Electrical Code. Electrical wiring, devices, appliances and other equipment that is modified or damaged and constitutes an electrical shock or fire hazard shall not be used. 1. All electrical work shall be in accordance with the electrical code. All romex wiring shall be in conduit. Every business within the city limits is required to obtain a certificate of occupancy prior to occupying a space. Obtain your C of O or provide a copy of an existing C of O.
