| 08/02/2007 | VIOL - ILLEGAL ADDITION | DCOX | Correction Required | Initially called out 08-01-07 @ 01:45am by TFD regarding a small contents fire in a bedroom. TFD personel concerned with various electrical wiring problems as well as an imporperly installed water heater. Upon arrival I witnessed the main electrical service panel had no dead-front and improperly installed additional circuits. I looked in the fire area and there was at least one branch circuit burnt by the fire. I noted the improper WH installation. The exhaust gas vent pipe was not properly connected and venting into a storage room. The room was open to the main house. The residents were told they could not reside at the house and indicated they had a relative to stay with. The occupants refused assistance from the Red Cross. I called TEPCO and had a technician disconnect electrical service to the entire residence pending a thourough inspection. I explained the permitting process and the need for a clearance from DSD for the electricity to be restored. There appeared to be much WOP at the residence however due to the time of day it was not prudent to conduct a complete inspection. |
