Inspector Tinnin called this complaint on a small fire at the Sushi Cho restaurant at 1830 E. Broadway he found multiple extension cords (some routed through the celling tiles) and a blocked rear exit. the hood system appears to be in need of a cleaning as well

Broadway # 148 Tucson, AZ. 85719 RE: Fire Inspection Dear Mr. Asanuma The Tucson Fire Department conducted an initial fire prevention inspection at the address listed above. The following are the Fire Code violations that were noted for correction. 3003.3 Security. Compressed gas containers, cylinders, tanks and systems shall be secured against accidental dislodgement… 1. Secure your compressed gas cylinder 605.5 Extension cords. Extension cords and flexible cords shall not be a substitute for permanent wiring. Extension cords and flexible cords shall not be affixed to structures, extended through walls, ceilings or floors, or under doors or floor coverings, nor shall such cords be subject to environmental damage or physical impact. Extension cords shall be used only with portable appliances. · Remove the extension cord near SE door. · Remove extension cords near Sushi Machine · Remove extension cord that is going through ceiling · Remove extension cord near Glass Freezer 605.6 Unapproved conditions. Open junction boxes and open-wiring splices shall be prohibited. Approved covers shall be provided for all switch and electrical outlet boxes. · Replace missing electrical cover plate behind glass freezer. 1008.1.9 Panic and fire exit hardware. Where panic and fire exit hardware is installed, it shall comply with the following: 1. The actuating portion of the releasing device shall extend at least one-half of the door leaf width. 2. A maximum unlatching force of 15 pounds (67 N). Each door in a means of egress from an occupancy of Group A or E having an occupant load of 100 or more and any occupancy of Group H-1, H-2, H-3 or H-5 shall not be provided with a latch or lock unless it is panic hardware or fire exit hardware. · Repair the panic hardware so tat it operates properly. · No other locking device shall be use in conjunction with panic hardware. 1011.5.3 Power source. Exit signs shall be illuminated at all times. To ensure continued illumination for a duration of not less than 90 minutes in case of primary power loss, the sign illumination means shall be connected to an emergency power system provided from storage batteries, unit equipment or an on-site generator. The installation of the emergency power system shall be in accordance with Section 604. · Both exit leading to the rear exit shall be illuminates at all times. They shall also operate by battery back-up. Notes: 1. C of O shows Occupant Load of 109 (there is two front exits and one exit from the kitchen. 2. Hood last cleaned Sept. 2006 3.
