02/15/2006 | INSP - REINSPECTION | EGRIFFIN | Violation | RE: Fire Watch Requirements Dear Ms Berry, Recently, The Tucson Fire Department Fire Prevention Division was advised of the failure of the fire pump therefore affecting the required automatic fire sprinkler system. This fire sprinkler system is required for occupation of the building under the following 2003 International Fire Code which states; 903.2.10.3 Buildings more than 55 feet in height. An automatic sprinkler system shall be installed throughout buildings with a floor level having an occupant load of 30 or more that is located 55 feet (16 764 mm) or more above the lowest level of fire department vehicle access. Exceptions: 1. Airport control towers. 2. Open parking structures. 3. Occupancies in Group F-2. In order to continue the to occupy this building, the use of fire watches has been granted by Deputy Chief Dan Uthe. The fire watches shall be uniformed security guards whose only duty shall be the early notification and detection of fires. Enclosed is a copy of duties. As per Chief Uthe, the fire watch requirements shall be; From 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.- 4 fire watches required. 7 p.m. to 7 a.m.- 2 fire watches required. Periodic re-inspections shall be conducted. |
