02/02/2006 INSP - FULL JDAVIS Approved I received the compliant this morning and responded around lunch time. I found that there are only two floors not three. However, the rail on the second floor does have wide spacing as the complainant states. I spoke with both the manager and maintenance personnel. I did not contact the complainant because I did not have that information. The manager states that they have had this addressed several times in the past with the building inspector (this is actually who should be handling this complaint). Apparently the railing that they have installed falls under existing conditions provided it has not been changed or significant remodeling has not occurred at the complex. This is one of the things that I am following up on with the building inspector for an opinion or referral. I told the manager that I would do research and get back with them. I will contact the complainant today now that I know who she is and let her know how we are progressing. Per DAve Mann, when this building was built the require ment was 9 inches. Currently the oopening is 71/2 inches.
