09/09/2004 INSP - FULL EGRIFFIN Violation 1). Currently immediate access in this secure area is restricted due to a combination locking device with keypad on a steel doors in front and rear door. There are no windows for access and area is surrounded by 5-foot block wall. This area serves 20 or more fraternity members. In this situation the CODE is the key of entry. A key box shall be required under authorization of TFC 506.1, which states; 506.1 When required. Where access to or within a structure or an area is restricted because of secured openings or where immediate access is necessary for life-saving or fire-fighting purposes, the code official is authorized to require a key box to be installed in an accessible location. The key box shall be of an approved type and shall contain keys to gain access as required by the code official. Responsibility of this key box shall be building operator under TFC 506.2: 506.2 Key box maintenance. The operator of the building shall immediately notify the code official and provide the new key when a lock is changed or re-keyed. The key to such lock shall be secured in the key box.
