09/28/2002 | INITIAL CODE VIOLATION | LHANLY | Approved | TFD EMERGENCY CALL. COOLING TOWER BURNING IN MECHANICAL ENCLOSURE. 1. CAPT. BRADY WAS CONCERED ABOUT STRUCTURAL STABILITY OF TOWER. AFTER EXAMINATION I INFORMED HIM THAT TOP DECK WAS STRUCTURAL DIAPHRAGM AND THAT RAIL POSTS WERE SUPPORTS. HE MOVED HIS MEN AWAY FROM UNSTABLE AREAS. TFD WAS ATTEMPTING TO CUT SMALL ACCESS HOLES THROUGH DECK IN STABLE AREAS. I FURTHER ADVISED THAT THEY COULD CUT IN THROUGH SIDES IF THEY AVOIDED MAIN SUPPORTS. I LEFT SCENE WHEN COUNTY OFFICALS ARRIVED TO ADVISED AND SUPERVISE SITE. THIS ADDRESS IS A COUNTY OWNED BUILDING. ALL REPAIRS TO BE DONE BY COUNTY. NO FOLLOW UP NECESSARY FROM C.O.T. |
