Arrived and found ceiling in kitchen above stove is separated and detached from wall. This damage extends on other side of wall in living room. In living room, at the central portion of home, a large, approximately 10 ft by 6 ft portion of ceiling drywall has collapsed. There are cracked and missing ceiling joists in this area. Ceiling joists are detached from wall. There is additional cracking at ceiling where it meets walls in the hallway abutting this, the bathroom, and in bedrooms, with the northwest bedroom having more extensive damage. On the north (front) exterior wall, bricks are blown out and have fallen down from above the front window. There is cracking to bricks above front door. Gas line enters attic space from outside at gas meter. Southwest Gas tested lines and determined no leaks up to the meter. They found a very small gas leak at a joint on the gas line on an interior closet in the hallway. Gas service was killed at the service line in the rear easement. TEP was called to scene and disconnected power at the meter. Home is condemned and has been red tagged. A structural engineer shall assess the entire ceiling and roof system of the entire structure, and the exterior walls to determine what needs repaired or demolished. Repairs shall be made within 60 days by a licensed contractor with an Issued Permit. -VM |
