10/21/2024 COT - ENFC - Code Enforcement - Initial In Violation 947 AM - Called out to site for a fire. Arrived and found TFD Fire Captain and Officers from TPD still on scene. The back door of the building was breached and two homeless and a dog were found inside camping out on a bed with various living materials surrounding them. The fire was inside the building in a makeshift fireplace built out of bricks and an apparent panel box covering. Appears is vented out of the roof with some type of duct work. The structure itself does not appear to have sustained any fire damage. The interior of the former restaurant space has been gutted from electrical wiring, breakers, etc throughout the building. Ceiling and wall drywall has been removed in multiple spaces throughout the restaurant. Appears wiring and copper pipes removed from the building. There is further evidence of squatting activity and drug paraphernalia throughout the building. There is trash and debris throughout the building. There is what appears to be human waste in a toilet. There is a rear building that appears to have been a storage building that is found to be vacant and unsecured, door is open and there is what appears to be a penetration through the roof, can see daylight entering the structure but unable to determine the size of the breach. Called listed number for owner's address and person working there refused to provide owner's direct phone number. City contractor was called to secure the building. -VM
