There was a fire in the laundry room in carport. A breaker panel and gas water heater are in the laundry room. Electrical was off at main disconnect at meter on arrival. Gas was off at on arrival. Laundry room is separate from the house dwelling by exterior brick wall, and there is no connected attic to the dwelling. Fire did not enter the dwelling. Interior wall studs are fire damaged in laundry room. There is fire damage to the ceiling beams. Gas water heater is installed in a non code compliant matter, lacks drain pipe from pressure relief valve. Unknown if damage to gas lines to water heater. There is fire damage to electrical lines, to include the feeder line to laundry room sub-panel, three romex lines entering from inside the dwelling, and outlet and switches inside the laundry room. Isolated power to the laundry room subpanel from the main panel on exterior, and isolated power to the three lines in room from the bedroom subpanel. These breakers shall remain off. Called and spoke to owner, advised a Residential Addition Alteration Permit is required, and a licensed contractor may be required. -SO/VM |
