04/14/2025 COT - ENFC - Code Enforcement - Initial In Violation Arrived to apartment complex and found all units disconnected from electricity. Police and TFD still on scene, fire investigations were ongoing. Fire was started on a mattress in the living room of Unit 76 and caused severe damage to the living room, and kitchen. Heavy smoke damage in these areas. A metal pan was melted on the stove. Per TFD, bedroom at NE corner and bathroom at SE corner of unit sustained heat and smoke damage. TFD reported no visible fire in the attic space. There was no apparent damage to the unit above. The unit shares a common wall with the electrical room where meters to each unit are located. Property manager arrived on scene and removed drywall on east side of the electrical room to be able to see wiring at this location. There was no electrical lines that appeared to run west towards the fire damaged building. It was not clear if any of the meters on the west wall, abutting the fire damaged unit, were damaged by the fire. All of those units, 71 to and including 91, were all condemned. A city padlock and chain were placed on this disconnect to prevent reenergization of these units. A licensed electrician shall review all of these portions of the electrical system and provide a report to Code Enforcement prior to Code Enforcement removing the padlock. An issued permit with use of licensed contractor is required for all repairs to unit 76. -VM
