| 04/28/2024 | COT - ENFC - Code Enforcement - Initial | In Violation | Called out to site by TFD. Entire home was involved. All windows on front of home have been broken, the entire front porch area is open. On the south side of structure, windows are broken. There is an HVAC system that is mounted on wooden posts that are charred and burned. There is burned conductors in this area. Appears they are running to a library like structure at the southwest corner of the property, which has also been burned. This structure appears to have a swamp cooler energized possibly by extension cords. There is what appears to be a conductor that is hanging near ground level between the southwest corner of the home to the library structure. The library structure has damage to siding, and structural members, including roof beams and roof decking. There are holes into the roof of this structure. The electric meter located on the west facing wall has melted. There is exposed conductors throughout this area. There is what appears to be in addition at the west end of the structure that has also suffered burns and damage to the siding, and the interior has burned. All windows on the west wall of the structure are busted out. There is conduit running electrical conductors that has become detached from the structure. There is what appears to be structural members scattered throughout the yard in this area. There is excessive trash and debris in the rear yard. The entire interior of the home has been burned to the studs and roof structural members. Structural members are charred and burned throughout the entire structure. City contractor was called and responded, secured the structure. Structure was posted Unsafe to Occupy with notice to repair or demolish the structure under permits. -VM | |
| 04/28/2024 | COT - ENFC - Code Enforcement - Follow Up | In Violation | Called back out to scene by TFD due to fire restarted and engulfed the rest of the home. Arrived and found TFD crews still on scene actively extinguishing the fire. Crews had breached areas previously secured including both front gates which were removed from hinges/tracks, boards on front window were loosened in case of emergency egress, side gate busted open, siding to home removed in this area, side door to apartment unit on north side of structure, side gate of block wall in this area, chain at rear gate removed. Firefighters have cut holes into roofing of the structures on the property. There is additional damage to the apartment like unit at the north side of the structure and additional damage to the shed like structure at the rear southwest part of the property. Southwest gas was on scene and removed the meter, and abandoned service at the main. Permit required for gas reconnect. TFD was able to extinguish fires and stayed on scene to monitor. City contractor was called back to resecure openings into structure. Biff Baker was called to fence all three broken/removed gates. Rear gate was chained by Code Enforcement. Occupants of the property was advised cannot stay on the property or be on the property after dark otherwise could be subject to arrest. Property was re posted with Red Tags Unsafe to Occupy. While still on site, smoke was observed coming out of the roof. TFD was called back out and fire had restarted in the roof of the structure. Crews cut additional holes into the roof of the main structure. -VM |
