Exhaust fan was on for approximately an hour and resident reported hearing a popping sound or similar noise and then noticed fire. The exhaust fan burned, and wiring to the exhaust fan burned, wiring is bare and burned. Upon arrival, breakers were turned off to bathroom by TFD. Breaker #5 was found tripped. Per TFD, TEP did arrive and checked breaker panel. Ceiling is removed in the area. There is multiple burned and damaged 2 X 4s / structural members in the area of the fire. Insulation is removed from the area. Burn damage to HVAC duct work. Electrical panel was locked off to prevent power from being turned back on to this circuit. Did verify line was not energized after locking box. NOV to owner, 30 days for repairs to be made to building and electrical by a licensed contractor under an issued Residential Addition Alteration Permit. -VM |
