TP-PRE-0123-00083 Complete 01/18/2023 N/A Pre-Application A new Tucson Water 4-million-gallon (MG) concrete reservoir and booster pump station are the primary facilities proposed for the existing Old Vail Tank Site. The new reservoir will provide 4MG of storage for existing and future development and will specifically provide potable water to TW’s G, H, I and K Zone service areas. The new 4MG concrete reservoir will also provide fire protection storage for TW’s G-Zone. Some key project elements include: a. Construct one (1) rectangular 4MG conventionally reinforced concrete reservoir divided into two cells with each cell baffled. Design this concrete reservoir for service to both the existing G-I Zone Vail Water Company booster pump station and the new G-I Zone Corona de Tucson booster pump station. b. Reconfigure and replace portions of the G-I Zone Vail Water Company booster pump station. Design a new lowered suction manifold system with booster pump cans to align the G-I Zone Vail Water Company booster pump station with the new G-I Zone Corona De Tucson booster pump station. The existing G-I Zone Vail Water Company booster pump station discharge header will remain. The existing pumps and electrical equipment will be utilized to maintain service while installing the new suction manifold and pump cans and will be reused in the new portions of the GI Zone Vail Water Company booster pump station c. New disinfection building that has sufficient chlorination capacity to serve the existing G-H Zone booster pump station, the existing G-I Zone Vail Water Company booster pump station, and the proposed G-I Zone Corona de Tucson booster pump station. Connect the disinfection system directly to all three booster pump station manifolds d. Determine supplemental mixing or aeration requirements for the two existing steel tanks (existing 200K-gallon north tank and 250K-gallon south tank) to maintain water quality within the dead storage area below 5-feet above grade. e. Determine disinfection related design enhancements for the rectangular 4MG conventionally reinforced concrete reservoir such as incorporating recirculation pumps, baffles, rounded reservoir corners, mixing, or aeration f. Assess the requirements and configuration for design relocation of the existing recirculation pump and piping that services the existing 200K-gallon and 250K-gallon steel tanks, as well as for the new 4MG concrete reservoir. Please see Executive Summary (Section ES-1) and Project Alternatives (Section 10.0) of the attached Preliminary Design Report for a full project description and preliminary site plan. Design will be done by jointly by Westland Resources and Stantec.
