The structure is of unknown age and with a badly deteriorated plywood roof and bowed rafters. It is attached to a manufactured home with 2 x 4 rafters and supported by a total of 9 alternating 4 x 4 wood posts and metal scroll posts supporting a 4 x 6 wooden beam. The structure is of unknown age possibly over 20 years old. I have owned the property less than 5 years and have no knowledge of any prior permits or site plans for the carport structure. The cost to bring the structure to code would be excessive since it would need to be totally demolished and rebuilt. The owner wishes not to rebuild or replace the structure. All of the structure is not salvageable and will be taken to the landfill. According to the code enforcement office no permit is needed to demo a non-permit structure. |
